Bruschetta, the Apulian and Italian appetizer par excellence, has been a well-known dish since the 15th century.
Of poor, peasant origins, it was born from the need not to throw away stale bread, but to use it to prepare a simple and frugal meal. First, stale bread was sliced and toasted on the fire. The name 'Bruschetta', in fact, recalls the term 'bruscato' (toasted). Then, the Apulian farmers seasoned the bruschetta with fresh tomato cut into small pieces, a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil, salt and oregano.
This simple and delicious meal is, by now, known all over the world and is one of the most famous and appreciated appetizers, so much so that numerous variants have been created.
Terre dei Trulli bruschetta are already seasoned and ready to enjoy, alone or accompanied, depending on your imagination. Traditional or spicy, they bring an authentic Apulian aperitif to the table. They are made by slow leavening and then cooking in the oven.
Ingredients: Wheat flour, remilled durum wheat semolina, olive oil, fresh yeast, 1.4% sea salt, malted wheat flour, 1% oregano.
